Isle of Skye, Scotland
Drive from Edinburgh to the Isle of Skye. By the time this journey is done, we have driven more than 800 miles on the "wrong" side of the road. It takes some getting used to. I never got used to seeing a car come over the horizon on a hilly road on the right side of the road — always thinking I was about to have go head to head into an oncoming vehicle. Right turns are especially odd feeling, as you have the feeling that going to be overtaken and broadsided on the right as you complete your turn.
Day 1: Arrive in the evening at our AirBnB, The Spoons.
Day 2: Hike at Quairang (sp?). Go to Talisker distillerary and stock up. Go to the beach.
Day 3: Storm comes in — visit the light house at North Pointe. Gale force winds but we venture out on to the cliffs nonetheless. Dinner at Three Chimneys.
Day 4: Visit the Feary Pools, which is overrun by tourists. Trek on for a longer — cold, wet hike through very boggy lands below the mountains.
Day 5: Drive out to the southern most point of the isle, then drive back to Edinburgh.
