Drive through all of Big Sur to Pacific Grove, CA to stay at Asilomar State Beach and Conference Grounds. In Big Sur, elephant seals, wonderful views, humongous choclate chip cookie, beach w/ "purple" sand, hike at small state park to waterfall, drive over huge bridge at  northern entrance to big sur, bad thai dinner at Asilomar but with in-room wood burning fireplace in historic lodge designed by CA's first licensed women's architect. Morning hike along 17-mile drive / Spanish Bay beach.
